The story centers around the journey of two childhood friends -Asta and Yuno, who were orphans abandoned at a church orphanage when they were infants. While the two have certain differences, they both share the same dream -to be become the Wizard King they idolized in the legends.

Asta is loud, full of energy and temperimental, certain characteristics that is also shared by other known powerful anime protagonists such as Naruto and Luffy. Unlike most people in Clover Kingdom, Asta has no affinity in any magical power. Refusing to give up his dream, he trains his physical strength to make up for his weakness. He gains a black grimoire with 5 clover leaves that grants him to use the Magic Cleaving Sword that can nullify magic.

Yuno, on the other hand, is quiet, calm and level-headed. He is in every aspect, gifted at magic. He used to be a crybaby but a certain incident with Asta fueled his determination to be stronger and aspire the same dream as Asta’s. He gains a gold grimoire with 4 clover leaves that grants him the use of wind-based magics.

From the direction the plot is going, it seems we are in for a ride of mysteries and action-packed fights some time in the future. It surely gives us the same vibes as other shonen anime where the main characters meet more people and slowly power up along the way. That, and the friendly rivalry between the main characters are something to look forward too.
