Shokugeki no soma is about the adventures of Yukihira Soma, a high school chef, at the prestigious Toutsuki Culinary Academy. At Toutsuki, he discovers new friends, rivals, and recipes as he improves his cooking – one Food War at a time.

The anime’s first season, released by J.C. Staff, aired last 2015 and the second season last 2016. The previous seasons have already introduced the Food Wars that Toutsuki was built upon. The past seasons have also covered important milestones in Soma’s 1st year life such as the Autumn Elections and the Staggiare.

This season, the anime will be introducing some new characters that we’ve been dying to meet: the Elite 10. Along with the Elite 10, the anime will also be featuring a new challenge, the Moon Banquet Festival.

There might also be troubling times ahead for Soma and his friends as we learn more about Toutsuki’s history and Erina’s past. If the anime continues to follow the manga’s storyline, then angsty and salty times are ahead of us. We won’t mention what these are to avoid spoilers though~

The anime has proven promising so far. The animation is as excellent as the previous seasons. The new opening theme pumps you up, readying you for the delicious adventure ahead. The new characters won’t disappoint and the old favorites still have plenty of screen time. For the returning fans, Season 3 is a dish to be savored. For the newcomers, starting at Season 3 might throw you for a few loops plot-wise, so be sure to catch the previous seasons as well.
